With art and luxury goods, the first decision is often the most important one: the right advisor.

Valuation of Art and Luxury Goods in Zurich

Collecting is more than ownership. Anyone who builds a collection of art, watches or other luxury goods over the years is not only assembling value, they are building a story. My role is to take both layers seriously: to determine the financial worth of a work with care, and to protect the personal line of your collection.

In this combination of substance and meaning, the collections that hold over time emerge, financially and personally.

Collection strategies and management

A collection should hold its value, but it should also follow a line, one that fits you.

For over three decades I have been a collector myself, in contemporary art, photography and watches. That practice shapes how I work with other collectors: from the first strategic key acquisition, through building a coherent line, to inventory, structuring and succession to the next generation.

My mandates come from private collectors, family offices, foundations and lawyers who need an external collection lead. Someone who understands the work and at the same time keeps the financial, tax and legal consequences in mind.

Appraisals of art and luxury goods

Knowing what a work is worth leads to better decisions, both in selling and in everything around it.

There is always a moment when you need to know what a work is really worth: inheritance, insurance, sale, structuring, tax. I provide appraisals in five core areas (art, luxury watches, jewelry, classic cars, wine collections) and draw on a network of recognized specialists for cross-verification when required.

My appraisals are recognized by banks, insurers and tax authorities in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

When do you need a professional appraisal?

  • Tax assessments (inheritance, estate, gift and capital gains tax)
  • Sales to private collectors, auctions or galleries
  • Division of assets within the family
  • Insurance appraisals (replacement value)
  • Bank collateral and lending

If you need a valuation in any of these situations, the best first step is a direct conversation.

Buying and selling advice for art and luxury goods

In the highest segment, you rarely have to hurry. But often you choose the wrong platform.

Auction, private sale or gallery placement. Each variant has its strengths, its risks and its expected return. Choosing the right one for your work and your situation is the most important decision before any transaction.

On the buying side, I secure off-market access, due diligence and a negotiation that represents only your interests. On the selling side, I guide you discreetly through valuation, channel choice, timing and the right buyer network.

Art loans and art leasing

Liquidity comes from structure, not from selling. Those who structure keep their substance and gain room to move.

If you want to free capital from your collection without selling a work, an art loan is the right path. I broker access to specialized Swiss private banks and negotiate terms on your behalf, not for the other side.

If you want to use works without owning them, for office or representation spaces, I also guide you through an art leasing model. In both cases, it is about structure, discretion and a contract that fits your situation.
